Exclusive event coming to Knit This, Purl That! Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019

We are hosting Cecelia Campochiaro, creator of Sequence Knitting, to teach 2 great classes.

Class 1- Introduction to Sequence Knitting

Sunday, 11/24, 9am to 12pm

Fee: $70

Skill Level:  Suitable for advanced beginners.

The concept of Sequence Knitting is simple: take a sequence of stitches and repeat them again and again. Depending on how you repeat them, different fabrics can be created.

Learn about the amazing and fun world of sequence knitting directly from Cecelia Campochiaro, the author of the groundbreaking book.

The class is a half-day introduction to the wonderful world of Sequence Knitting. Sequence knitting is all about making beautiful knit fabrics by repeating a sequence of stitches. There will be a mix of lecture, sharing examples, and swatching to practice sequence knitting. Students will learn the range of possibilities and understand how they can use sequence knitting in their own work. This class will open up your creativity and stimulate you to think about new ways to use your yarn to make beautiful accessories.

Supplies:  Bring 2 balls of yarn in solid contrasting colors and appropriately sized needles.

Class 2- Sequence Knitting: 1-row Patterns

Sunday, 11/24, 1pm to 4pm

Fee: $70

Skill Level:  Suitable for advanced beginners.

This class is a deeper look at the easiest kind of sequence knitting, 1-row patterns. Just like they sound, 1-row patterns are fabrics where every row is worked the same. Depending on the yarn, gauge, colors, and the stitch patterns, a wide range of fabrics can be created. Students will see examples, will swatch, and will learn how 1-row fabrics are structured. This is the perfect kind of knitting for those times when you want something simple to make, but also beautiful.

About Cecelia Campochiaro: Cecelia appeared on the knitting scene in 2015 with her debut book, Sequence Knitting. She lives in Silicon Valley, where for many years she developed specialized microscopes used in computer chip manufacturing. Textiles, photography and the arts have been a lifelong passion running in parallel with her technical life. In high school and college even though her main studies were in the sciences, she studied drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and photography. Knitting was a causal pastime until she had an ah-ha moment in 2010, and realized that textured fabrics could be created by the simple repetition of a sequence of stitches. This idea evolved into Sequence Knitting, which is a mindful approach to knitting that leads to textured reversible fabrics. Today she is fully dedicated to the fiber world and “unventing” new ways to make amazing knit fabrics. Her next book about marls will come out in 2020.
